the power of moms

recently i haven't made the effort to take any pictures on my real camera. i found myself distracted with chores and lists. plus i was fighting a lingering, annoying cold that left me drained and a little grumpy. but i still wanted to post about our week and all of the joy that we see each day with our sweet peas, even between the "busyness". if you think about it....everyone is busy. life is busy. that's not going to change.

so thankfully i snapped a few pictures on my phone (never mind they are a little blurry)and when i looked back at them I smiled BIG. and those happy pictures reminded me that our week wasn't half bad. it was actually really great.....full of family time and playtime and all of the little things that my girls love. looking back on our week changed my perspective. as did this article....power of moms article it put a lump in my throat and reminded me of what our children really want....US! not a perfectly put together mom with a perfect manicure and stylish hair, sitting on the sidelines. they want ME rolling around in our pillow fort or chasing them up the slide. they don't need over-the-top or perfectionism. and that's NOT what I want to teach them either. kins and sammy love my silly made up songs in the kitchen, dancing with wands to that same old song, bubbles in the bath tub and plain old coloring books on the floor WITH ME....a mommy who is trying hard to be in the moment and be patient and thoughtful and teach kindness. i can do it....and so can you!

here's to trying our best, each and every day....for ourselves and our little ones....

kinsley prefers to walk around most of the day with a baby doll of some kind tucked under her arm. no kidding this baby doll is half her size...but that didn't slow her down. hehehe

this girl loves a good puzzle......

Photobucket
especially when her Nanny is here to help her!

Photobucket
and big sister having some MUCH needed one-on-one time with her daddy. nothing melts my heart more than listening to them play pretend.

Photobucket
samantha was thrilled to pick out her first kite after we saw a segment on sesame street. too bad we really don't have kite flying down pat yet. hehehehe. if only we had a video of us running back and forth, back and forth with absolutely NO luck.

Photobucket
last minute trip in her jammies with grandpa tom to get frozen yogurt.

Photobucket
exploring the zoo together with just enough coins for a cold lemonade and a handful of fish food PLUS a picnic with pop pop!

Photobucket
going away dinner for Phil and Connie....lots of food and ice cream sandwiches to sweeten the night. we are all so very thankful for all of the ways Phil and Connie helped Tom when he wasn't feeling well and how much they helped our whole family.

Photobucket
coloring the afternoon away....

Photobucket
and meeting up with cousins at the museum...fun!

Photobucket
sweet sisters love to hold hands.....here....there.....

Photobucket
and everywhere! xo

Oh that article got me too! YOU are an amazing Mama, pretty darn perfect if you ask me (or your kiddos)! Love the happy "busyness" photos too! While reading this both John and Shannon came over to look "Oh hi Sammy!" from John and "bayybeh?" from Shannon! :) xo
