father's day 2011

there is no hiding how wonderful my husband is as a daddy to his two baby girls. i just knew it in my heart when we were first dating that he would make a tremendous father and i fell in love all over again when i saw him become a new daddy to samantha and again when kinsley was born. he is everything a daddy should be....involved in every way, always caring and concerned, gentle and patient, and such a strong role model teaching them each day. one of my most favorite memories of tyler as a new dad is when he would carry samantha around the house telling her stories of things he saw...describing a special picture on the wall or telling how mommy and daddy first met or some story about when we moved into our house. he would lull her with his voice and his soothing stories, so sweet......

i love being a parent with you Tyler and i wouldn't want it any other way! thank you for loving our girls....to the moon and back.

and so our father's day surprise was a huge hit....samantha and kinsley gave him a "camping trip"....

samantha was VERY into getting ready for father's day...she helped set up the tent and pick out which pillows and babydolls and things to bring inside the tent. she painted a special barrel and then we walked around the yard and gathered "important outside" things she collected to feel like we were really camping. (sticks, rocks, flowers, mulch, grass, berries, some more sticks and some more mulch...hehehe) to see the excitement on her face when he came home that morning...

and father's day would not be complete if i didn't give a very BIG wish to my dad and tyler's dad. we spent the day together...first at a delicious lunch at pam's house and lots of fun playtime with samantha's cousins and then on to a lobster bake dinner at my parent's house.

Grandpa Tom loves his grandchildren and his children. he is such a loving and hard-working man with such patience and kindness. from the moment i joined his family i've felt loved in every way. sammy loves it when her grandpa tom's car is in the driveway and she knows its playtime....they get lost in her toys or outside in the yard talking and exploring together.

and a happy father's day wish to my dad... there are not enough words to describe just how thankful i am to be his daughter. from the time i was a little girl, anxiously waiting with my brother for him to come home from work and play with us, i have looked up to him. my dad has loved and cared and listened and guided and encouraged and done all the things dads do but with something extra. a few memories that come to mind....family vacations, swimming out to the sand bar looking for sand dollars at the beach, going to a father/daughter dance as a girl scout, all the voices he used to make up for my baby dolls and reading stories, having him chaperone school trips and band trips, helping me move home after college, little emails at work, ....
i have always felt like the luckiest girl to have a dad like mine... that maybe we just might have the kind of father-daughter relationship that is closer than all the others. the best part.... he continues to take care of me even now that i'm all grown up and i still look forward to just being together. thank you dad for all the ways you have helped make my life so wonderful. i love you!
