big day tomorrow....
well the time has come whether i like it or not and it is the eve of my little samantha's first day of preschool. yes i know its only three mornings a week and yes i know she's ready....but am i?thats the hard part. not only am i emotional about our summer together being over and that i will be busily back to work every day starting tomorrow but i really just can't get over how much of a "big girl" milestone this is. we've never sent her to a babysitter or a day care. as a baby i was always back to nurse her and tuck her into bed. and last week when i headed back to my first teacher work week samantha found herself wrestling with the change of my new schedule and her daddy and mommy being so busy. even though she was in loving hands while we were away she was emotional and unsure. the big change led her to her first potty accident after a few days of us not being home. i am hoping that was the worst of it and she'll be ready for our new family schedule when she heads to school tomorrow. i am hoping she won't miss me as much as i know i will miss her. we've been talking and preparing for her big first day all summer and i know she's going to be fine and a happy little student. it just doesn't take away my anticipation and that lump in my throat saying goodbye each early morning. plus those bittersweet feelings of her growing up.
so i spent my day today soaking up every ounce of my sammy mac....more hugs and kisses and stories....going about our normal morning together, playing babies and coloring together. we did "special projects" as she calls them and did markers on the window and played dress up too. all the while i kept thinking how badly i wished it didn't all have to change tomorrow. yikes. i spent all of my extra energy on packing and repacking her lunch box a million times, adding in a special note from mommy and daddy. laying out her new back to school dress and making sure i had everything ready for the big morning. i wish i could be there to see her face as she starts her first day in school tomorrow...i hate that i won't be there to experience it and reassure her and encourage her. thankfully i know it will be the very best because her daddy is more than excited about getting her ready and taking her. he's promised lots of pictures and has been so reassuring and involved...as always i have him to count on and make it the best!
so i tucked her into bed tonight after reading (by her request) the Kissing Hand...talk about holding back the tears. she kissed my hand and i kissed hers and i promised her i will always be with her.
good luck tomorrow samantha macKintosh. i know you will shine and you will be a sweet girl and a happy student. we love you so much!

Oh LInds ...This will be ok...I am so sad and so happy and love you so much... You have grown up to be the most wonderful daugher and mother and I am so Happy all these wonderful milestones mean as much to you as they do to me! I do know how much you want to be with Sammy on her first day of school and I am so sorry you can't be....but I know your presence will be with her all the way and that all your special touches and much thought out planning will make her first day of preschool the best!
Love and kisses Sweet Pea, I love you,

so cute! Love the placemat! great way of telling the story of this new beginning! she will definitely shine and you will love seeing that! good luck tomorrow!
Linds, no matter what Sammy knows you are always with her! And I so feel the same way about our "babies" growing up, bittersweet sums it up perfectly. It looks like Sammy is very prepared for her first day and I'm sure those special notes will definitely remind her that Mommy is thinking about her throughout the day. Good luck on this big day for both of you! Sending you happy thoughts and big hugs!! xo
Sammy's first big day is over by now and I'm sure it went great! We thought about her all morning and loved looking at your pictures to help Bridget remember how much fun she's going to have at school. Enjoy your evening together and be sure to fit in a little relaxing for yourself:)
What a big girl she was today. You have prepared her for this and she is going to shine in school. We are so proud of her.
Oh I love the pictures! What great parents you are. Hope to see you fall break(plans are still in the making just depends on how many little ones we have at that time)
