neighborhood block party
our annual neighborhood block party was saturday afternoon and this was the first year we were able to make it. our little neighborhood of two and a half streets all got together for a street/block party with bbq and lots of food and more kids than i could count running around playing games and riding scooters. poor sammy was still at her sickest and so we were only able to stay for a little bit...thank goodness we were only a wagon ride down the street because after 45 minutes samantha fell apart and her sickness got the best of her. we made the most of our one outing this weekend.... and visited with neighbors and ate corn on the cob and hot dogs...oh and our mac and cheese went fast. it ended with a big scavenger hunt for all the kids...so back at home as i rocked samantha to sleep early that evening and it was still light out...the hum of the humidifier in the background...i watched packs of kids running in and out of our yard looking for clues and racing to win. what a lovely, cozy neighborhood we live in....lots of waving and chit chatting and borrowing milk and oranges and lending a hand for odd jobs...we love our turnbury just the way it is. ps. can't believe it will be four years this august that we've lived here. wow!
