goodbye Turnbury
moving is a funny thing....its a TON of preparation and planning and even more hard work lifting and loading and boxing. it takes a lot of hands on deck and a lot of patience. but besides all the physical work....you know its also very emotional...full of excitement and remembering old memories and feeling happy and sad all at the same time.
tyler and i had thought on and off about how we would need a bigger house one day. then back in March we were deciding between a complete overhaul of our pool or putting our house on the market. tyler's expert opinion said it was the perfect time in real estate to sell and so in late March we decided, let's just see what happens. we had the house ship-shape already and had a few last minute repairs and a couple days later our house was officially listed. (sure is nice being married to an experienced realtor hehehe)
that monday morning we dreaded putting the FOR SALE sign in our yard, which we knew would prompt long conversations and questions from our loving neighbors....but we did it. that same morning a Realtor called asking to see our home. I scurried around mopping the floors and fluffing the towels, removing the dog beds and laundry baskets...after a lot of quick work i had the dog and two girls and i all out of the house, ready for our FIRST showing. it sure was exciting. (and daunting thinking about having to do this again and again during the selling process)
little did we know the rest would be history. that second day the lovely Realtor came and loved our house for her clients. by the end of the week we had negotiated a contract. it was surreal. even as i type i can picture the disbelief of how quickly and happily this was happening. as much as i looooooved our home of seven years and our quaint, cozy neighborhood we knew we were ready for this new chapter. still....it was hard to believe.
on may 25 our house closed and a sweet retired Navy family moved down from Virginia to start their new chapter in Turnbury. we know they will love it!!

all of our furniture in two storage units plus we filled the family's joint storage unit and half of Pam's garage with boxes. THANK YOU Pam for letting us take over your garage!

one last time playing in our mini play area...we love you little blue house

sorting through her boxes of toys....she picked out a few of her favorite toys to keep out

saying goodbye to our empty house on the last day was very bittersweet....so many memories in those walls and so much happiness!

and no matter how ready we were to find a bigger house, we would never be really ready to say goodbye to our beloved neighborhood. it was small and friendly and we had the best neighbors all seven years. like what a real neighborhood is supposed to be like. our three streets were safe and comforting and something that will be seriously hard to duplicate.

and so then we were off to house hunt and take a breather and relax...ahhhhh!
good thing we had just the place to do that..... my mom and dad's. no matter how stressful and busy things were that last month we kept picturing ourselves with all the moving done and relaxing with lots of help at my parent's house. whew....
and thankfully we made it! thanks mom and dad for making our transition to your house such an easy one for everyone. the girls were easily settled and happy playing with their familiar toys and babydolls....I was relieved to have help with the girls and less house chores weighing me down...... and tyler was glad to know while he was working long, long days his girls were happy and taken care of.
YES!!

first night ready for bed in their new matching lamby jammies
