i heart beach days

yesterday was one of the first saturdays that we had completely free, just the three of us, to do whatever. what a good feeling. so after our weekend waffle breakfast at home and a few house chores we decided to pack up for a trip to the beach. the weather is unusually warm but with a nice breeze and we were ready to see how samantha would like the sandy beach. we took her once before when she was only a couple months old so this, we considered, was the second '1st' beach trip, ha. we were curious to see if she would eat the sand or be interested in it and how much work it would be chasing after a crawling baby. suntan lotion, umbrella, hats, sand toys, towels...all packed and we were on our way. at first she was happy to feel the sand and loved sitting and playing with the bucket and making a mess. next she thought hey i can crawl on this stuff and so that was fun. then i decided to show her the water as i helped her walk down to the wet sand.....that was it...she was obsessed from that moment. she made a bee-line everytime we set her down straight for the water and kept crawling into the waves until we picked her up, and it all started again. and man is she fast. it was so fun and she was smiley and screeching with happiness. tyler brought her in the chilly water which she loved splashing and we went on a nice walk....even though who knew how crowded it would be. anyway, what an awesome day. sammy girl took a longer than usual afternoon nap and even after a bath she still smelled of baby suntan lotion and sand. ahhhhh!!!
