poor colebaby

well it happened..... our poor little colebaby had to have knee surgery again...this time on his other leg. we were completely devastated when we realized this was happening all over again. the first surgery, back in september, was a nightmare....he was in the worst shape you could imagine afterwards and it was just awful for all of us. plus it was a long 10 weeks of resting....which is hard when you're an active, nosey lab. anyway after a long consultation with his surgeon he suggested that the medications last time maybe didn't work properly so this time around he assured us he would make sure his recovery was not so painful. sooo with new and improved painkillers and medications during and after the surgery....i'm proud to report he did GREAT. the surgery went smooth and he even walked out of the hospital at the end of the day. he still did a lot of crying the first night but all together he is a million times better already than the last surgery. whew. talk about stress and worry. cole has always been our little baby and a big part of our family. even though we know he won't be bounding after tennis balls on the beach anymore or running with tyler on his long jogs....we will just be happy for him not to be in pain and to enjoy a nice walk, outside our neighborhood.  he has loved us from the minute we saw him with his doggy mom and brother, from the first car ride home where he sat on tyler's lap, through severe puppy separation anxiety, and through being the one who 'announced' our pregnancy to our family one night with a t-shirt that said Soon to be Big Brother......we are one lucky family to have cole for the loving dog that he is. happy recovery big guy!
