our house, tune in

call us today and we are one stop short of making it on a home improvement show....whew....its been a busy saturday already. its always my goal to try and look at the positive side of things and so here it is...my sunny view on our latest projects is that Samantha has a beautiful, very sturdy and safe new crib and our patio is now child proofed with a very safe pool gate. neither of these things were we too happy about originally but we knew it had to happen. it all started on thursday when we were alerted that our crib had been recalled...yikes! yesterday we made a trip to the baby store to thankfully find a crib that matched the rest of her furniture. it is much larger and is converts into a bed eventually (man was I more attached to that original crib than I thought...sigh sigh) anyway after a quick but painful decision, and a second trip back to the baby store (in a bigger vehicle, thanks Uncle Bill!) we had the new furniture to set up. so today we're on a roll....big, homemade waffle and fruit salad breakfast and we're on our way to home improvements of all sorts. my mom and I get the crib set up while sammy naps in her travel pack-n-play and my dad and tyler get the pool gate constructed. it was a work shop around this place, thats for sure. and now as everyone is napping and the house is quiet and clean and tool-free, i feel relieved to have these big projects behind us, happy as a hippo to have a safe home for our cheekers and i feel thankful my hubby was so handy and my parents are always so willing to help out.
on a different subject...Samantha MacKintosh had a very good report from her 9 month checkup yesterday. unfortunately she refused to get weighed and threw a huge crying fit (something we hadn't witnessed ever before)...you know the choking, red-faced, snotty screams...yeah that was us in the middle of the doctors office. ahhh! but once we moved on and the doctor came to see her everything went fine. she weighs 21 lbs and is 28 1/4 inches tall which means she has leveled off in her fast growing. she is perfectly healthy and happy and was even relaxed as the nurse gave her a shot. tyler and i enjoyed talking with our doctor and feeling confident about our little cheeker's health.

here is her first try at eating finger foods....strawberries, bananas and her favorite, puffs.
thanks mimi for helping us put the crib together!
samantha tries out the new crib with a few of her books

handyman tyler and his first time using a hammer drill....i think he left those safety glasses on all day. ha
so far so good.....
a final look at the patio....ps. haven't figured out how to arrange all the patio furniture yet.

Tool time Tyler. I am so relieved to have the pool fence installed. You are so fortunate to have a mimi and pop pop to help. I wish that I was there for the photo op. Love, Grammy

The crib looks great - matches the other furniture perfectly. And we've been there when Ava didn't want to get weighed at the doctor's office. There have been a couple of times where I had to get on the big scale with her, then without her to figure out how much she weighs. haha
